Logos, Invest in a Good One!

Today I stumbled across a post about the high cost of logos. It’s funny, because I was just writing something yesterday about the importance of investing in a good logo. This guy pretty much nailed every point I made plus some! I encourage you to read it, whether your are a client or a designer!

Installing Wordpress: The Big Adventure

A few months ago I wanted to install Wordpress on my website, but at the time I didn’t have a server capable of handling it. However, a while back I switched my service provider to GoDaddy which gave me the ability to host a W.P. blog on my site. I downloaded Wordpress, following all instructions… “put DB hostname here, username here, etc”. The famous 5 minute installation process went according to plan until the last step. I got the dreaded “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by Wordpress. *dun dun dun* :( So I Googled the error hoping to find other users with the same issue. I found some all right, but they were all different depending on what host was being used. I refocused my search to installing WP on GoDaddy servers. Bingo, that helped! Some guy on some site – sorry dude I’d give you props, but I was going through way to many sites to remember – said that Wordpress works better when you switch your GoDaddy’s OS (operating system) over to Linux, instead of windows. I thought I’d give it a whirl. If you want instruction on how to do this in GoDaddy, click here!

It took about a day for the switch to finish. If you are going to do this make sure you have a back-up copy of your site. You may need to re-upload. After switching to Linux I re-uploaded the Wordpress files and BINGO it worked. :)
